MOTTE Joseph-André
French designer (1925 - 2013)
He graduate the Paris Beaux-Arts as an interior architect and cooperates with Albert Guénot for the workshop of the Bon Marché and after 1952 with Marcel Gascoin. He is a member of the Groupe IV for the furniture editor Charon in 1953 and of the A.R.P (Atelier de Recherche plastique) from 1954 to 1957 with Michel Mortier and Pierre Guariche. After he became independant he had a very prolific career and creates a lot of furnitures and seats in wood and plywood, rattan, metal, formica... amond which Steiner with great success. In the 1950 he creates furnitures in curved wood.
Stainless steel attracts his attention in the 1960's. He contacts the research and creation workshop from the Mobilier national for which he creates a set of desks. He also worked for Orly and Roissy Airport, the great Gallery in the Louvre, The maison de la Radio... He was president of the SAD form 1966 to 1968 and won a lot of prizes like the René Gabriel prize in 1957, The international exhibition prize in 1958 and the Compasso d'Oro in 1970.
