GAUTIER Gustave

Gustave Gautier is french designer born in 1911 in Nantes. After completing his studies at the Ecole des Beaux Arts de Nantes, he moved up to Paris and registers at the Ecole Nationale Supérieur des Beaux Arts de Paris (architecture section) and becomes close to René Herbst and the principes of the UAM ( Union des Artistes Modernes). After second war, he focuses on the interior decoration. From 1949 he exhibits regularly at the SAD and the SAM. He presents a serie of furniture that you can easily modulate. He promotes tan woods et most of his creations are edited by Rimard and Dumuids. He is mostly interested in new materials like plexiglas and formica. He will arrange a lot of interiors for private clients.
